I don't actively dislike Whitney, but apart from the obvious pleasure in seeing her in various stages of undress, I don't have any particular positive, let alone humorous, response to her. I read she is on the late night talk show with the woman (Chelsey something) but I have never seen that program and have no context for her. The guy who plays her lover seems likable enough - the rest of the cast is a huge (and I can not emphasize that enough) turn off. I really want to like Up All Night. I love Arnett and Rudolph, and have learned to have some affection for Applegate, especially if I can keep her performance in Anchorman in mind. So far it is only the likability of the main cast that has kept me watching it, waiting for it to be funny. I am still waiting, but I will probably keep watching. I read a review in the NYT a few weeks ago that liked Free Agents, but said the original was better. I have put in a pass for it when it starts showing on BBCA I think this weekend so we shall see, but the US version is for me a total dud. I guess I can see why Azaria wants to do a mostly straight role, but I don't really see why NBC thought it would be funny to watch him do it. And I keep thinking the woman who plays his non-love interest is going to be Sarah Silverman's sistern, and then realize she is not, and wind up disappointed. It is nice to see Giles again, but that is not enough to make me want to watch this show. -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
