And one of the idiot comments from the thread:

"That's the trouble though, it seems like every time something is sold
as "AD FREE!", once it becomes popular enough it isn't ad free
anymore.

Cable TV started out as the alternative to ad driven TV. There's no
ads because you had to pay for the service."

Cable NEVER said it was totally-ad free--just the HBO/Showtime/Cinemax/
TMC/Starz/Encore premium channels and C-SPAN. For the most part, most
other cable channels have had ads from the beginning of national
cable.

"Same thing with satellite radio."

At least half of Sirius XM's channels are commercial-free (the music
channels, the NPR channels, BBC World Service, the other public radio
channels). In fact, originally many of XM's music channels had
commercials and the service dropped them when Sirius launched with all
music channels commercial-free. And considering the online
competition which will make it into people's cars soon, Mel Karmazin
would be cutting his throat if he started putting ads on the music
channels.

Where do these morons (especially the allegedly intelligent people who
read Consumer Reports' Comsumerist blog) get this misinformation?
