Hoo boy: After former "Weekend All Things Considered" host Lisa Simeone was called a "spokesperson" for the OccupyDC branch of the Occupy demonstations by the Chinese news service Xinhua and the right- wing noise machine made its predictable huffing and puffing, Simeone seems to be losing her national public radio gigs--she supposedly has been fired as host of the independently-produced doc series "Soundprint" (although her face is still on the home page of that show's web site) and NPR seems to be pressuring WDAV in North Carolina to drop her as host of the NPR-distributed "World of Opera," citing violations of the network's ethics policies:

Seems that NPR is worried by association, since Simeone used to host the flagship afternoon drive news show (albeit the weekend edition). She started hosting "World of Opera" when NPR produced the program in-house and she was an NPR employee, since then all of their classical music programs have either moved out of house or, in the case of "Performance Today" and "SymphonyCast" to American Public Media, sold to other people. Hopefully, WFMT in Chicago won't can Simeone from hosting the Chicago Symphony Orchestra broadcasts. -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
