I don't have anything linkable, but Radio-Info reports that Jim Ladd, the veteran late-night jock at LA's KLOS, one of the last DJs allowed to program his own music selections on commercial radio and the subject of Tom Petty's song "The Last DJ," has been laid off, the victim of several staff cuts by the station's new owner, Cumulus Media. If it's any consolation, his PD boss Bob Buchman and 12 other employees of KLOS and sister station KABC (including KABC production director and image voice Howard Hoffman) are also on the street, joining employees at other Cumulus stations previously owned by Citadel Media (and ABC/Disney before that).
Ladd may land on his feet at Bonneville's classic AAA KSND "The Sound" or at public stations KCRW or KCSN (where Petty is headlining a benefit concert for the station next month), but an era in Southern California radio has definitely ended. I'm sure Kevin will have more to say. -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People! You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TV or Not TV" group.
