Most of the staff moved from NYC to LA , then most of the Tonight Show staff worked on his live show, then most of those moved over to the TBS show. The retention rate of crew for late night talk shows is amazing. When I worked on Leno's show there were production assistants who had worked for Carson, and Carson had retired a decade earlier.
