I would say you are correct. A lot of people have gotten their understanding of Rand second-hand and don't understand that it's a lot more than "people should be rewarded for hard work". I work as a grant writer and consultant. I have a client,a retired banker, who now runs a non-profit organization. He loves Rand, and talks about "going Galt" and all that even though he doesn't seem to have read more than the back cover of any of her works. Again he runs a non-profit organization. One seeking charitable donations. And thinks he's a Randian.
