I know a couple people here have gotten the call to appear on the show. Craig (who broke Ken Jennings single-game record and won the 2011 ToC) used a web tool he developed that scraped the J! Archive, created a model of how those questions appeared, then used that to help train himself. Some of the stuff in the video is commonly known amongst the game show set, but still: great stuff.
