And unfortunately, given a choice of two new short-run game shows in
the can to run in prime time, ABC chose to put "Wipeout" on Thursday
nights during the winter until the Ashley Judd drama is ready (despite
the fact that the show just doesn't work at any time of the year other
than the summer) and when deciding to start spring "Dancing" late (and
giving "The Voice" a six-week jump on things over at NBC) and needing
something to fill the period until "Bachelor" starts up, they chose to
put on the show in the ABC tradition of tearjerker reality shows ("You
Deserve It!", although people I trust say that it's a better game than
your run-of-the-mill contestant screaming "LOCK IT IN!" show) and put
the show featuring intelligent people pondering over questions that
don't have multiple-choice answers on Sunday afternoons against the
NFL. Nice going, ABC.
