I'm surprised, actually, that they didn't toss to Washington while Brian and a couple crewmembers dashed across 49th Street to Studio 1A. Even if there's a separate control room for Nightly at 30 Rock, I would think that they should be able to manage to get a single camera fed from one studio to another, even if it's rather an indirect route. Regarding back-ups, if such a thing ever did happen, I bet it would just be a matter of making sure that their DC newsroom had a script and knew what NBC or WRC talent they could drag in front of a camera on short notice. -- David J.
