The pre-Internet world. (Early in the time-shifting era, too.) There
could have been an Overnight newsgroup on the ARPAnet, and I remember
the program being reviewed favorably, but most of us would watch shows
like that and the early Late Night without having much of a community
to discuss it with. Water cooler discussions were much more likely to
be about prime time shows.
