It's worth noting that the international-focused BBC World News is pretty different to the BBC News channel that we get in the UK which has more of a domestic focus. Although programming tends to be shared in off-peak dayparts.
So those jokes you're not quite understanding in the News Quiz may still leave you a little confused. That all said, while the channel is somewhat "dry" it should give viewers a pretty rounded view of the world. Worth noting: BBC World News isn't actually available in the UK. We only see it in hotels abroad and so on... I suppose it's akin to the difference between CNN and CNN International, except the UK version of BBC News doesn't feature people like Piers Morgan to really annoy viewers.
