Well, even though the campaign appears to have been going full swing since probably November 3, 2010 but the first actual voting begins next Tuesday. (I'm not counting the Ames Straw Poll.) As always, the two opinion networks -- Fox News and MSNBC -- will have its respective ideological analysis of the results (because the actual news story, the election results is something that can be read in 10 seconds when they come in, one or two hours after the polls close). CNN will also probably spend the night with its neutral pose telling us nothing we don't already know.
But what's going on with the newest news and analysis network, Current TV. After hiring Keith Olbermann, making him an executive in charge of news, and virtually airlifting Countdown intact from MSNBC, Current announced that Cenk Uygur (who also left MSNBC after a falling out) will be the headlining host for the Iowa Caucus. In fact, they've turned to Cenk to host its political specials, while apparently leaving Olbermann in the dark. (He was unaware that they were preempting a pre-taped Countdown end-of-year special the night before (in the new year) for a Caucus preview show with Cenk. So, it leaves me curious, and it leads the two reporters reporting on the story to wonder if we're having a new Olbermann disgruntlement brewing. http://mediadecoder.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/12/29/an-election-year-dawns-without-keith-olbermann/?src=tp http://www.mediaite.com/print/and-so-it-begins-ny-times-report-suggests-tension-between-olbermann-and-current-tv/ -- Wesley McGee http://www.ambivi.com http://sterlingnorth.vox.com http://drawing-a-blank.tumblr.com Twitter: @westwit G+: http://plus.google.com/113413697748381364954 Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/wesleymcgee -- TV or Not TV ....
