Remember those? At any rate, I found Bill Carter's "The War for Late Night" in paperback and looked up the theater references. It's on pages 57 and 62, among others. It was in what I think was Conan's second stint in theater that he and others, including I think Smigel, came up with what became Chicago Superfans "Da Bears." So Conan definitely has some theater background. Maron appeared recently on Conan O'Brien. I don't know how long in advance it was booked.
