The clowns look like they could be, at least, solidly middle-aged. Both the gay couple and the older couple seem to be a not-every-race phenomenon, although they usually have at least one gay competitor and one older competitor. (And then there was the race where there were four gay racers over three teams, but only two of them ever had it mentioned on the air, and despite the controversy the first time around, the producers did the same thing when all three teams returned for the all-star season.) -- David J.
