I wasn't thinking of Shirley MacLaine specifically. One thing I liked about the first season of Downton Abbey is that it was about a quiet and isolated manor in northern England. I get the idea that their world had to open up during the Great War but I don't like them continually upping the scale by adding characters from farther and farther away. If there had been some acknowledgement of Cora's family ever in the show, even if it was only through mention of letters or a comparison of a character to her father or aunt or somebody it might not leave me so cold. -- TV or Not TV ....
