Redbox -- a division of Coinstar -- bought its biggest rival, Blockbuster
Express. Blockbuster Express -- which is actually owned by NCR, after
Blockbuster spun it off but before Blockbuster was bought in bankruptcy by
Dish Networks -- probably couldn't compete with Redbox, even with "same day
releases". Though getting the last laugh in the fight with Warner Bros may
be worth the purchase price. (I'm assuming WB was giving Blockbuster
Express same-day access, or at least only delaying releases to them by 28
days).

Also, Redbox is also planning an online video service with Verizon. I
haven't read up on that deal yet, though.
