I had never seen House until last Fall - since then I have pretty much
inhaled the entire corpus, and am now up to date. I was skeptical of liking
the show, but have really dug it. I have read some fan and critical
reflections on the show since I caught up, and was surprised about a few
things - one, that so many people thought the show jumped the shark at
various transitions (I liked all of them - except for this season, which
really does seem to have taken a dive; obvious reason: Cuddy).

But nothing surprised me more than to see that Jennifer Morrison was a
favorite for so many fans (well, I was also really surprised to see one of
my all time favorite movie scenes being brought back to life - "I've got
Jews at my table!"). I had watched the entire show in something of a
vacuum, and for me her character (I am unfamiliar with the actress in any
other role) was always the least interesting part of every episode she was
in. I think it was near the end of the first season when it looked like she
was going to leave the show, and I was so hoping that she would. OTOH,
Oliva Wilde proved to be smoking hot, always interesting, and every moment
she was on screen sizzled. I guess another reason I don't like this season
is the permanent loss of the possibility of more 13.

But the real emotional core of this show is the love story between House,
Cuddy and WIlson - without that, it can never be the same. They should have
paid her the money for one more year and gone out right.
