Only show I ever worked in with Mischer was the 50th Emmy Awards. We were deep into golden time/overtime (probably 20 hours into the day and 18 hours of nonstop rehearsals). Mischer stepped out of the truck and onto the stage to apologize to the crew for running late into the night. I interjected, "But the good news is we've raised three million dollars for Jerry's kids." He laughed and told me I was fired. I told him I'd stolen the line from one of the show's writers, so he said he'd fire the writer instead.
Only EP/director I ever worked with who took ownership of the fact the day was running long and said he was sorry. I'll never forget that.
