Bloomberg reports that the plan would be to flip Fuel to this new
channel. Since News Corp already has a boatload of rights from
networks they own (Big Ten Network, Speed, Fox Soccer Channel), they
seem to be able to ramp up the content quickly.

This means all four broadcast nets will have their own sports
channels, which should provide more fuel for TV rights contracts and
push more sports deeper into the channel numbers on the assumption
that fans will pay any price to watch their teams, which alienates any
idea of building a fan base who can never see the damn games.
Meanwhile, the small group of fans who would gladly pay the teams
directly to watch their local teams online are screwed because that
sweet TV money locks out local fans.

Professional sports in this country as they exist now can't die soon enough.
