The lifestyle talk show that replaced the fading "One Life to Live" to the
screams of its mostly elderly audience last fall did even worse than "OLTL"
and will be gone July 6--ABC will do an afternoon edition of "Good Morning
America" called "GMA in the Afternoon" from July 9 until Sept. 10, when
"General Hospital" moves into the 2 p.m. time slot and makes 3 p.m. local
time (although on the ABC-owned stations and other affiliates Katie
Couric's new show will air in that slot):

After Nellie Andreeva of Deadline broke the story, the grandmas who are not
in the money demo are proclaiming victory in the comments and still
demanding that "OLTL" and "All My Children" be brought back, as if it's
still 1980, the daytime audience is younger and daytime profits are still
paying for prime time (and a few of the old ladies are believing that it's
all a ruse to cancel "GH" for "GMA in the Afternoon") . Why do they refuse
to accept the reality that soaps as they were done in 1980 are too
expensive for daytime in 2012?

As for "GMA," ABC's saying that some of the morning crew will be doing the
afternoon show, along with "new talent."
