Strange but true. I saw the changes happen around the millennium. Most
of the bars there were not too trendy and nicely located (and having
worked the NBC ticket kiosk I had a parking pass). My friends and I
often congregated and enjoyed fermented barley while puffing a cigar.
We'd hang out until closing time with no thought at all of safety
concerns. Then things began to change.

To tie this back into the ViewAskewniverse, Lisa "Caitlin from Clerks"
Spoonhauer was the manager of my favorite CityWalk haunt. A sweet
girl, I got a nice hug and peck on the cheek from her on her last day
-- she saw the changes coming. Last I'd heard she was running a joint
down near the Santa Monica Pier, but that was years ago.

Ironically NBC is in its transitional period from Burbank to Universal
City. Burbank has spent the last 15 years really cleaning up its
downtown and its image while Universal City has gone further down the
hill upon which it is perched.

As for why people should listen to Jon Lovitz, remember he did once
punch Andy Dick squarely in the face and knock him on his ass. For
that he gets a certain amount of leeway in my book.
