Got to see a screening of the movie directed and written by Bobcat,
followed by a Q&A.

The movie is good -- not great, but good. It is a dark comedy centered
around a man on the verge of suicide who decides instead to kill
people who are mean. No idols are sacred -- reality TV stars,
loudmouthed pundits, Westboro Baptists, and people who use their cell
phones in theaters are all summarily dispatched. Obvious similarities
to other movies about vigilantes, but enough original moments to make
it worth watching.

The post-movie Q&A with Bobcat was what I won't soon forget, however.
I won't name the host or the podcast he was recording, because he is
an embarrassment to himself and podcasters everywhere. The host
thought he could open with a dig about Bobcat's less-than-stellar
choice of acting roles in the 1980s by asking about "Hot To Trot."
Bobcat then went the way of Andy Kaufman by spending the next 45
minutes alienating both host and crowd by refusing to discuss anything
other than "Hot To Trot." The host had no control, the audience grew
more and more unsettled, and neither Bobcat nor I could stop laughing
as all attempts to steer the Q&A towards the film we just watched
swerved right back to a 25-year-old movie about a talking horse. It
made for great theater.

Bobcat did eventually let up on the host and the Q&A was in many ways
better than the vintage "Evening with Kevin Smith" series of sessions,
so much so that Bobcat ought to consider his own college speaking tour
and subsequent DVD release to fund future indie movies.
