And a personal note:  Someone I know got an Emmy nomination while still 
living in Chicago.  Scott Gryder, a musical theater performer and cabaret 
singer here in town, is also a cast member (and co-writer) of "Green Screen 
Adventures," a little kids show that Chicago pure indie WCIU decided to 
produce themselves rather than take a syndicated "E/T" show.  The show is 
now national, thanks to the Me-TV and This TV digital subchannels co-owned 
by Weigel Broadcasting, WCIU's owner, and Scott is nominated for a Daytime 
Emmy for not performing or writing, but for makeup!  Another performer and 
writer on the show, Jessica Carleton, is also nominated for makeup for the 
show (she also designs and builds the show's puppets).  Their competition 
in the category includes an R.L. Stine show on the Hub and Baba Wawa's 
makeup woman on "The View," but I would just love it to see this little 
low-budget local show from Chicago beat the networks.  The complete nominee
