There is a difference in intention between the old film pieces and the
digital shorts. The legacy short films were intended to give the live
performers a break and to give young filmmakers like Albert Brooks and
Tom Schiller a showcase for their type of humor. The Digital Shorts
came with the rise of YouTube and they were intended to become viral
and drive viewers to the live broadcast.
