Second fun fact addendum: On my shows, we were told "Who is" on both questions, so it was a little more complete that just "who" or "what." They must have had some problems with the completions.
Third fun fact: The show is taped in real time (that is, two minutes on each of the commercial breaks) except for the pause before Final Jeopardy. They give the contestants as much time as they need to figure out how much they want to bet. After that, a PA comes around to ask each contestant how much their wager is, and that verbal amount is written down by the PA and double-checked with the written one. I assume this is so a loser can't later say, "Did I write down $25,000? I meant to write $32.500." There was a problem on my second show in that the guy next to me had a conflict between what he wrote and what he wanted to bet. The PAs took him aside and made sure what he intended to write and then watched as he re-wrote the intended amount on the telestrator. Once it was all cleared up to everyone's satisfaction, taping resumed. Needless to say, the other two of us were not privy to either the original written or spoken amounts. --Dave Sikula On Jun 1, 8:16 am, Jim Ellwanger <[email protected]> wrote: > On May 31, 2012, at 10:05 PM, Ben Scripps wrote: > > > The contestants are given 30 seconds to > > write the correct response, after which the electronic pens are > > disabled. > > Fun fact: the contestants actually get a bit more than 30 seconds, since > they don't have to wait for the "think music" to begin; they can start > writing once the clue is revealed, while Alex is reading it aloud. > > Second fun fact: during the commercial break, the contestants are tipped off > to whether the response is a "who" or a "what" and write that one word down > in advance.
