They're calling it a "continuation" rather than a reboot and the
original series continuity is treated as gospel (although there are
internal contradictions to work out) and the events of the movies have
been discarded entirely. For example, in one of the MoWs Bobby Ewing
regains control of Ewing Oil while in the TNT series it's still in the
hands of Cliff Barnes.

That said, I consider this season one of the TNT show and next year
will be season two. I've been enjoying the new series so far but worry
that they've only loaded these characters for one storyline which will
likely resolved by the end of this season.
