"The Takeaway," the so-far highly unsuccessful attempt by PRI to do morning 
drive public radio-style news for a younger audience is only on 55 primary 
signals after four years, is on home station WNYC NY's AM signal, not on in 
LA, Chicago, Washington or San Francisco, and has been met with hostility 
from the diehard public radio listeners from the beginning for its snarky 
tone and slicker, cable news-style production--it's shortening from two 
hours to an hour and first feeding at 9 a.m. ET, with an updated feed 
around midday:

"Takeaway" started around the same time as NPR's "The Bryant Park Project," 
a similar attempt with a more informal approach that got a loyal audience 
on podcasts but, like "Takeaway," was met with hostility from the mainline 
public radio audience and from most NPR stations and went off after nine 
months.
