You probably do expect Michael Douglas' obit to read that "Douglas leaves
behind a very hot wife" (or something like that), which basically reports
his heterosexuality*. I suspect the only reason DHP's obit may not include
any explicit reference to his homosexuality is that, god willing, he will
live long enough that by then it really won't be of much relevance.

Sherman Hemsley, on the other hand, lived through a time when it was very
relevant.

Again, I am not arguing that the papers should have included this
information; I do not know the rules guiding such things, and if Hemsley
had left word that he wanted it left out, and if it is typical for obit
writers to follow such requests, then so be it. But I do think (for reasons
I mentioned in my initial post) that it is a relevant part of his life, and
would be part of any, even brief, summary of it.
