I ended up front row center, which is more advantageous than it used
to be in the smaller studio. You might see me on camera because Craig
Ferguson laughed that the camera pointed at his producer awkwardly
featured the knees of the guy sitting next to me. I'd be the bearded
redhead next to him. I most likely would have been in lesbian row
(which is larger now), but shortly before the audience was led through
the gate a group of five or six people who had won priority tickets in
a charity raffle were allowed to stand in line in front of me.

Yes, I got there early (around 1pm for a 3:30pm call time) and was
first in line. A friend of mine had agreed to join me once she and
another friend of mine finished attending a taping of Price Is Right,
and that timed out fine. The guy with the aforementioned knees waited
behind me the whole time but it turned out he had a standby ticket.
When the audience people asked him to move, I just told him he could
stay where he is since I had two extra tickets (and then he got his 15
minutes).

The new studio is styled very much like the old studio. The desk area
is nearly identical, though Craig now has a front door center stage.
Also added are a dedicated performance area, Geoff Peterson has his
own area with a fake fireplace and an equally fake rhino head above
the mantle, and -- most amusingly -- Secretariat his its own door
where it now stands and "stalks" Craig throughout the entire show. The
audience area still isn't large compared to other shows (roughly 140).
I did note that aside from placing a few hot chicks in lesbian row,
there was no reserved seating for guests of the show. The page tried
to move me to the second row until I pointed out that I was with a hot
chick so he relented and I ended up with a good seat.

Unlike the previous show I watched live (which was the last they
recorded in Studio 58), today's show (the first in Studio 56, although
they did some test shows last week) is going to need to be edited. I
was just a few feet behind the producer's podium, so I could see him
making copious notes during jokes that went too blue or
unintentionally awkward pauses as everybody got used to the new
surroundings. Josh, a.k.a. the man behind Geoff, had trouble hearing
Craig at times. And Craig pointed out at the close that he felt like
he was yelling more than usual. But Kristen Bell, the episode's only
guest, has great chemistry on the show (I frankly think she is a
better talk show guest than an actress). I noted during the monologue
the producer's working script has a series of bullet points of what
Craig plans to talk about. Some of them Craig got to, others not so
much. Some were embellished upon and others will likely not air.

After the show wrapped we stayed behind to record some cutaway shots
for editing purposes; my guess is they will use those for more than
just this episode -- they don't have any banked due to the new
surroundings. Again, a quick taping (seated by 4pm and out by 6pm).
