Kimmel knows how to play the game. During the WGA strike he and Leno cross promoted (and appeared on) their respective shows. I do not dislike Kimmel, though his humor is hit and miss. I just think it serves his best interest to trash Leno and praise Dave, so that's why he is doing it. That's how you play the game (it is how Leno played the game two decades ago). But whereas Leno has been repeatedly proven to be either duplicitous (or able to surround himself with people who will be duplicitous on his behalf), I cannot shake the feeling that Kimmel will -- assuming his career longevity reaches or exceeds Dave and Jay -- one day be revealed to have double-dealed and two-faced his way to late night success.
That said, I'm fine with Kimmel moving to the earlier time slot because I'm also fine with what is being called Nightline coming to as quick an end as possible, because it is a shadow of what it was. I view it the same way I view so many other flawed remakes of once great shows -- using the name devalues the original brand.
