It is a good article, and a great point. Colbert is one of the few places
in popular culture where I see reflected the kind of religion that I am
involved with (though protestant, not Catholic). In the layers of his
performance I find that more than a few secular liberals dismiss Colbert's
religiosity as just part of the conservative ideology he is lampooning, a
mistake only half a step above the naive conservatives who take his
conservative character at face value (and I do know people who do this).
