The best first day for a daytime talk show since the debut of "Dr. Phil" 10 
years ago and dwarfing the other new shows from Jeff Probst and Ricki Lake 
(which also started yesterday) and Steve Harvey (who started last week)--of 
course, daytime talk is a marathon, not a sprint, but considering that a 
1.0 rating these days is considered a "hit," one would say that Couric is 
way out in front:

Also, yesterday Anderson Cooper's show got a revamp as "Anderson Live" with 
a Mike Douglas-style co-host for the week (the first one being Kristin 
Chenoweth)--yeah, Katie beat him too.
