George Entwistle had only been director general of the UK pubcaster for six weeks until last Friday night's telecast of the BBC2 late-night programme "NewsNight," which carried a report implicating that a former Conservative party higher-up was a child abuser during the 80s in Wales without mentioning his name--something on the Internet implicated the House of Lords member as the pol and that man has emphasized that the attacks were plainly false--Entwistle decided to resign as the ultimate man in charge:
