The groundbreaking jazz pianist and composer, whose left-field 1959 hit "Take Five" is still arguably one of the few "real" jazz recordings played on "smooth jazz" radio, has been heard on television over the years, including writing music for an episode of the 1989 Peanuts animated mini-series "This is America Charlie Brown" and supposedly writing and performing the theme song for the original 1967 ABC version of the game show "Supermarket Sweep," something that would seem to be completely at odds with someone of his intellectual heft--Billboard link includes videos of "Take Five" and "Blue Rondo a la Turk," another cut from his classic "Time Out" album:
