Mike Ryan, who scores each SNL episode every week for HuffPo, agrees with
Dave, rating it the best SNL episode of the year:

I liked it a lot also - partly I guess because I have such a soft spot for
Martin Short. The monologue was nice, but so derivative of several similar
and maybe better ones that if it were anyone other than Short I would have
been turned off. I liked Bennett, I liked the GYN sketch, and I'm sorry but
I really liked the Peanuts sketch. And god help me, I never do not like
What's Up with That? - though this perhaps was not their best.

Paul McCartney is alive and well, and I only wish we could say the same
about his old friend John, so I am happy. But frankly the last few times I
have heard him (including whatever that was at the Olympics) have been very
painful. But if my grandpa were alive I would let him sing whenever he
wanted to also.
