I believe Sturgeon's Law applies to cartoons as they do anything else. There has always been bad cartoons. In the 80s, there were plenty that were so bad that even I -- being ages 0-9 during that decade -- recognized they were bad. There were many more that, thanks to the passage of time and gain of knowledge, I can see today were bad, though I either adored them, or just watched them slack-jawed back then. So I cant really argue cartoons for kids today are worse than what they made for me. Though they all look far more slick than what we had.
Now for good cartoons, after the already mentioned Phineas and Ferb, I enjoy Legend of Korra (even after never giving any attention to Avatar: The Last Airbender), Young Justice (though I worry about that one, as the show only just recently returned to air after CN placed it on an unannounced 3 month hiatus in October), and Gravity Falls. -- TV or Not TV ....
