Howie has a nice interview with Bobby looking back on his famous 90 second commentary. The link will take you to a video of the entire 13' segment.
http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/bob-costas-talks-gun-control-on-reliable-sources_b164361 I like Costas a lot, even though I do not agree with him about everything (he is too moralistic about steroids, and caved in on interleague play). Having said that, it will now be self-serving to point out that one of his problems is that he is too smart for TV (not too smart for sports, but for television). Like a pretty woman who tries not to wear make-up or form-fitting clothing, he tries, but sometimes fails, to put the dimmer on his intellect and curiosity. In this case, even though Kurtz did a pretty good job, both he and tvnewser missed the main point (see the difference between the name of the link posted above and my subject header). Costas came back to try to make his point clearly even after Kurtz had ended the interview (a point I have heard him make in previous radio interviews on this subject, so there is no reason Kurtz should not have been hip to it). Basically, whether or not we increase gun regulations (Costas thinks we should), a completely independent question is changing the gun culture, much as we have changed racist and homophobic cultures. -- -- TV or Not TV ....
