This type of program usually has a weak spot - the idea is to appeal to passionate fans but they don't know about or can't find the web site, or something looks untrustworthy and they don't sign up for subscriptions. Having YouTube host the channels eliminates the weak spot. The question is if these new channels can generate enough content to justify charging monthly. A number of years ago I was invited to a showing of outdoors short films (on VHS) and a few of them came from a company called Twitch. They were very low budget films of young men doing extreme mountain biking and kayaking. This is the kind of thing I could see working as a YouTube subscription model. -- -- TV or Not TV ....
