This isn't a Super Bowl episode-specific comment, but something I've
noticed over the last two weeks, ever since they switched from production
music to having "Bone Patrol" in studio.

Am I the only one who misses hearing the proper version of the opening
theme song? I know that Bone Patrol is (essentially) playing it both out
of the cold open and into the monologue, but there's just something about
the theme's lyric (and the accompanying visuals) that set the tone for the
rest of the hour.

Since the monologue always comes after the first commercial break, I don't
see why they can't play out of the cold open with the taped main title
sequence, then have Bone Patrol play Craig on into the monologue after the
break...

Anyway, Super Bowl Special - liked the 'opening number' with the 49ers Gold
Rush Cheerleaders, although I was hoping for something a little more than
Craig dancing to his own theme music. Cold open was brilliant, and a nice
piece of on-the-fly comedy (and makes me curious to know what was
originally planned for the open). Remotes were hit and miss, as they
usually are when Craig is out of the basement, but overall showed off NOLA
pretty nicely. (Was it me, or was Steve Carell almost unrecognizable with
the beard?) That said, I'd have preferred the show to have a bit more
continuity (fewer taped bits, more live stuff in Jackson Square). I'm
assuming it was heavily time compressed, because there were some really
obvious edits in the Brees interview (and, I think, with NPH).

Oh, and how could he do a show in NOLA without bringing out Wavy the
Crocodile?
