Exactly. It seems like that's at least as likely to lose faithful viewers as it is to attract a new audience. I'll add that retooling is often necessary as people in front of and/or behind the camera move on, but on a successful series the question is "How can we keep the audience we have?" rather than "How can we make this appeal to a lot more people?" -- -- TV or Not TV ....
