I think it is more obvious than ever that the WH (and every other political
player in Washington) *does* care quite a bit about Spanish language
television, and the speech was available in several ways (I can not find
any indication of ratings however). Univision did air the SOTU on tape
delay, and "Univision's sister network Galavision aired the speech live,
and the address was live-streamed on Univision.com."

And of course, the ratings for the speech dwarfed Univision's telenovelas,
even in the demos, they were just spread out over lots of different
networks.
