If NASCAR was committed to driver and spectator safety, none of the
cars would exceed 35MPH. But they are interested in putting on a show
and drawing in audiences. The old Seinfeld bit is still true -- take
away the crashes and the danger, and NASCAR is just watching traffic.

Same goes for football and boxing and hockey and all the other sports
notorious for injuries. Safety is not their priority. Making money is
their priority.
