What I don't understand is, is this a mechanical malfunction (did some machine or gizmo break or not work properly, and they could not fix it on a live show) or was this some professional error of human judgement (whoever is in charge of this kind of thing thought it sounded right, but it didn't). When I was in high school I was in charge of the sound for our church (for no good reason). One of my most common problems was that I often could not tell from the little room in the back where I was stationed what the speaker, and the audience, could hear, so the pastor was always giving me hand signals.
