As one of the people who disagreed with you at the time, I will say that I also think it is asking too much to expect TAR to have handled this situation much differently than they did. I suppose they should have just ignored aspects of the war to avoid controversy, although I think that would have actually opened them up to more of the criticisms that you had leveled a few years back about being too cartoonish in their portrayals. That said, I think that TAR and CBS shouldn't be surprised that this pushed a lot of people's buttons. One of the things that I have learned living in Gettysburg is that it can be a fine line that is drawn for different people about what is celebrating/honoring a battlefield and what is viewed as disrespectful, and that is true even for battles that happened 150 years ago -- something where people who were directly affected are still watching (and in CBS's core demographic) is only going to be trickier to handle.
