Connick clearly prefers a more hands-on approach (based on his AI
appearances last week) - not to mention that he cares about HOW songs are
performed, not just how many notes a performer can cram into a run, so if
he WERE to attach himself to any of these shows, I'd think he'd go to *Voice
* before *Idol* (barring a massive format change for AI). That said, I
doubt he'd be able to work either into his schedule, especially with an
album to support.

AI has some serious issues to address, but the biggest issue in my eyes is
that no one has successfully replaced Simon Cowell as the 'Harsh Voice of
Reason'. One of the guilty pleasures of the early seasons of Idol was
knowing that Simon would tell a performer exactly what he (and, in many
cases, the home viewer) was thinking - none of the current judges are
willing to go out on that limb. Contrast that the *The Voice*, where the
coaches aren't afraid to let their performers know if they're disappointed
in how a song turned out.
