And his final report was about civil rights icon Medgar Evers, thanks to 
whom Pinkston got his first job back in Jackson, Mississippi in the early 
70s... the station 50 years ago finally let Evers go on the air, responding 
to a speech by the then-mayor defending non-hiring of folks of colour to 
city jobs, but it led to a protracted battle in Federal courts that 
ultimately cost WLBT's founder his FCC license... Pinkston was hired by
