Although showrunners Ken Warwick and Nigel Lythgoe, who have been in charge
going back to the original UK "Pop Idol," are both out, Fox is holding on
any more changes until a replacement is named for departing reality chief
Mike Darnell--they're also waiting to see if Kelly Clarkson, the first
"Idol" winner, will agree to be a judge (Jennifer Hudson has supposedly
already signed for the panel):

Fox may tend to forget that Clarkson did last summer's ABC bomb "Duets,"
but can say that it wasn't her fault (and they'd have something there). I
would also wonder if Lythgoe might get revenge by trying to get his bosses
at "Idol" co-owner 19 Entertainment and dick clark productions to take "So
You Think You Can Dance," which still does OK every summer, to another
network.
