That WAS the best number -- among a lot of great numbers.

I think the fact that the ratings were up this year is attributable entirely
to NPH. His performance as an award show host has become must-see TV.

I've still seen nothing about Pippin that would entice me to go (again),
including a piece in yesterday's Washington Post.

I guess what I look for first in a musical is the music. After the music,
it's probably the story, followed by choreography and costumes. I just
don't have any interest in acrobatic tricks (no, I've never been interested
in Cirque du Soleil), and since the music in Pippin isn't all that appealing
to me, nor is the story, it's not on the list of shows I'd like to see.

with NPH about coming home to Broadway:

Love Benanti, who not that long ago was Ms. Perky Ingenue, carrying a bottle
onstage and singing parody lyrics to "The Ladies Who Lunch"--and Hilty's
closing run, which Kat McPhee only wishes she could do.

And here are the lyrics:

The skit was great.

I think this was NPH's best year yet as Tony host, which is saying
something.

He mentioned on Fallon the other night that he'll be moving to NYC when
HIMYM ends next year.

Anybody else think CBS might want to have him take over the Late Show when
Dave retires?

BTW, I saw "Pippin" on Saturday, and still haven't recovered. An amazing
production. It deserved every Tony it won, and then some. Andrea Martin's
acrobatic tricks alone are worth the price of admission.
