Jim Nayder, a former program director at Chicago NPR station WBEZ, 
voice-tracked weekend station breaks at that station in exchange for them 
airing his documentary series about 12-steppers "Magnificent Obsession" and 
one day played during a long break WIlliam Shatner's version of "Lucy in 
the Sky With Diamonds."  That began "The Annoying Music Show," a weekly 
celebration of kitsch and inappropriate music for public radio that, thanks 
to many appearances on longtime friend Scott Simon's "Weekend Edition 
Saturday" on NPR, became nationally syndicated and was even heard on the 
BBC--ironically, the creator of a series about overcoming addictions had a 
long history of alcoholism (the cause of death has yet to be revealed):
