Last Thursday (8-22) the NYT published a piece by Dave Itzkoff on teh audition process at SNL through the years ( http://www.nytimes.com/2013/08/25/arts/television/the-god-of-snl-will-see-you-now.html ).
I have not seen it linked here; no great loss - it is pretty standard. Indeed, in both form and content it is almost indistinguishable from Tom Shales book "Live from New York: An Uncensored History of Saturday Night Live. New York". If it were not for the fact that some of the quotes are clearly after the publication of that book, you would think all Itskoff did was either reprint stuff, or scoop up stuff that did not make it into the book.
